WOODFORD MARKET REPORT

Some welcome rain leading up to Monday saw a lighter yarding of 150 head at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale. Local areas recorded as high as 150mm in the previous days. The market responded, with all descriptions selling to stronger rates, in particular the feeder and vealer market.

  • Michael Friedrich, Toogoolawah, sold Murray Grey backgrounder steers for $1650.
  • Garry Brown, Neurum, sold Angus steer calves for $1030 and vealer heifers for $860.
  • Graham Woodward, Mt Samson, sold Droughtmaster male calves for $970 and weaner heifers for $935.
  • Dai Collins, Mt Archer, sold Brahman cross cows for $1720.
  • Jonkman Enterprises, Stony Creek, sold Droughtmaster male & steer calves for $980 & $810.
  • Paul Thomas, Palmview, sold a line of Speckle Park store cows for $1360.
  • Bevin Peters, Kilcoy, sold Dairy steers for $1250.
  • Vern & Kim Duncan, Mt Mee, sold mixed breed steers for $1530 & $1500.
  • Mary McKavanagh, Laceys Creek, sold Droughtmaster vealer heifers for $950 & $880.
  • Maleny High School sold a Droughtmaster cow for $1800.
  • J & K Farmstock, Mt Kilcoy, sold a Droughtmaster bull for $2460.
